Kidney stones

Postby vandal » Sat Jan 10, 2009 3:19 am

Apparently, i have one...
Fortunatley, the worst is over. The feel of it ripping through my groin area ( comparable by some people to being stabbed or childbirth) was pretty intense but the doc gave me some morphine so i'm feeling better. Now, all i have to do is pass the thing.. Wish me luck

Wow. Sounds like a rough raid. Hope your tank can handle it.

Ouch! I'm so sorry to hear that. My dad gets kidney stones, so I've seen someone suffer with it. I hope you feel better soon. Are they giving you medicine to break them up or did you get the sonic blast thing?

Sorry to hear that dude. I've passed several (and I have one waiting for me in my left kidney), so I know what you're going through. First time I passed one I thought for sure I was dying (or maybe it was that I wished someone would put me out of my misery).

Gratz on the Morphine! I was told to drink lots of water and that did seem to help them pass faster.

Don't worry! The worst is over! It is bad only until it gets from ur kidneys to ur bladder and it sounds like that is over. The rest is easy - I've been tru it :)

Well, they finally broke it up with the sonic blast and now im passing the fragments. I've got 3 more small ones in my left kidney, which, i'm hoping I'll be able to pass without knowing... i hope.

I'd like to hear what the whole sonic blast process was like.

How big was the original stone?

I couldn't tell you, actually. They had me under anesthesia.
I do recall having a sore back though..

The original stone was 6mm

Ouch!

And is it having the desired effect (as in the remaining part are on their way without causing a problem)?

For some reason, they've stopped doing the sonic blast thing around here.

Yup.
I passed one of the larger chunks of it right after surgery and must have passed the rest without knowing. Peeing it out wasn't as bad as i expected. I imagined it might slowly shred it's way down my urethra with me screaming in agony but that was not the case (thank god!).

I declare this the most cringeworthy thread on Nar, ever.

You should feel pain only until the stone gets to the bladder as the channel from the kidney to the bladder doesn't stretch (it's not supposed to :) )and has VERY small diameter. From there on it's OK :)
