not very happy about, and kind of worried about my country and job to be honest. Communism has never worked for any country but i guess we are about to try it here.........isnt it stuff like this and freedom of religion (which is slowly bieng taken away anyway) that made our forefathers flee thier country to form this one?

I must've missed something...

What tenets of communism do you expect the new president to impose? State ownership of the means of production? Classless society? Abolish the government itself? It seems a stretch to think that any US president would have the power to impose anything even approaching these "reforms" without the backing of at least 2/3 of congress and the Supreme Court.

And last time I checked, we were still allowed to practice the religion of our choice. Granted, there are limits on fear-mongering and tax exemptions for religious organizations come with restrictions on political involvement, but that's more a separation of church & state issue (which is why my forefathers wrote that into the 1st amendment).).

As a FIRST generation immigrant let me fill you on something - almost no1 but ppl from Africa come to NA for the freedom (90% have to lie that they are persecuted for their believes back home just so they can stay). Most of the ppl come because USA and Canada (Australia too) are HUGE compared to all other countries and you have much more opportunities here than wherever you come from (hell!, I've seen ppl from UK immigrating to Canada). People are coming because the economy is/was better than anywhere else in the world. Freedom of religion is not that great - if religion is not kept in check you get cults or worse - fanaticism. That's how you had the Inquisition and now the Islamic fighters. It's just my opinion but FAITH is good - RELIGION - bad.
And communism is utopia that can't be done anywhere in the world. It starts great the first 10 - 15 years and then it all goes south (lol) because ppl are FUCKTARDS in nature. We never evolved far from the animals. Fuck god's design BS - we are too close to animals in nature than ppl want to believe and admit. It's in our nature to fight for power. BTW Norway and Sweden have socialist governments - do you see them complaining? :) Free market is not the best system either. How many market crashes did you have in the last 100 years? If a system is not kept in check it spirals down. Obama won't do anything drastic - he won't be even able to change your health system and you need it BAD. "Progressive tax" is something you need so filthy rich ppl actually pay something for a change - trust me they haven't until now :)

Soap box mode off :)

P.S. Sorry if I am harsh but you guys believe everything you are told and don't keep an open mind. The propaganda BS you guys get fed from the TV here is unbelievable. And they are good at it - trust me I come from a country that was fed almost the same BS for 45 years. Here is something you can think about - TV networks can be bought too :)

Again - SORRY if I offended some1 - didn't mean to!

I'm glad that we are all good enough friends that we can voice our opinions on this subject, even if they do differ. And I definitely appreciate your perspective, Urdo. On my closest side of the family to Europe, I'm just 4th generation.

No matter who won this election, I'm just relieved that the last 8 years of this administration are over. Either candidate would have been a change and change is needed.

the facet of communism you have missed is the economic justice that is part of obama's plan. Taking more from the "rich" and giving it to the ones who dont get off thier butts in the morning and go to work for living like the "rich" do, aka economic justice. As you heard Janice or whatever the black woman's name is on tv that said, "i dont have to worry about putting gas in my car or paying my mortgage, b/c i took care of him (Obama) and he will take care of me". A redistribution of wealth program hurts the middle class people the most, also known as me. I have to get up every morning to go to work, to scratch by so that my family can live with a roof over thier head and food on the table. Yet he wants to take more of that money away from me to give to people who wake up in the morning, go sit on thier porch and drink beer all day? Because after all, isnt it much easier to sit back and wait on a check that you did nothing for than to actually have some responsiblity in your life?

Either way, either choice, doesnt matter anyway. I believe our government has stopped representing the masses of people it has been elected by anyway.

And i agree with peyo on the tv propaganda. The media no longer reports the news, it always has the spin of what the media wants it to say. to me, the politics here are much like the World Wrestling Federation, its all for show, and behind closed doors they are all drinking buddies that want to get as much money for big business that they can.

Oh ya, and take away my guns too........evil beyotches

Rock on all. Here is what I believe politics and is a bunch of crap and there is nothing you can do about then vote, elect or have them just take over it is all just a game for the rich. As long as I have my toys I am happy. As far as the rest goes when they come along and try to mess with me then I will let them know how I feel and tell them what they can try to do to me and what not.

P.S. Peyo let me say this your options are your options I personal respect you for them I may not agree with them but I will not fault you for them. each and every person has their own idea for what is best and none of them are best for every one.

I don't think he can "redistribute the wealth" tho. What he can do is change the tax system so poor ppl pay less taxes and rich pay more. Middle class won't be affected by it at all if done right. If I understood right BOTH Big MAC :) and Obama wanted to increase the tax for the final (highest) bracket of income. I trust Obama was bought and sold by the big corporations long time ago anyway (you can't become president without some1 supporting you with money :) ) so don't expect something drastic from him :). The BIG change every1 is talking about is that you got your first somewhat black president. Clinton was more black than him  !

and whats even scarier than that is the number of people who voted for him just because he is black, not knowing anything of his political accomplishments or plans for the economy. and when you refer to the upper class, or the rich, i had heard (and i may be misinformed) that households as a whole that bring in over 150/year are considered rich. Now i am not at that, but between my wife and I we are close, but we have friends that are that, and i wouldnt consider them rich beyond any means. they got what they have by working they butt off.

Also if you think about it, the 150+ families may be small buisiness that might get run into the ground. There is also talk of them taking our 401k's and using them and then paying that back at a later date to help the economy. How about they take THEIR 401k plans and fat bonuses and pay, and help out the economy.

and yes peyo, it is both of them that feel that way, so either way i would have had the same reaction. It just erk's me to no end to see people living off the government who are perfectly able bodied to get up and get a job to support thier families. Our government is extremely broken, and imo, it has been for a long time. big buisiness runs this nation and the politicians are just thier puppets for sale to the highest bidder.

Ok, i shall stop now, but this discussion is good for a work day, makes it go by faster.

If voting could actually change anything, they'd make it illegal anyway.
