True. One thing for sure is that if I were building a pc today I would buy the best dx10 video card I could afford.


yea i wouldnt mind dual SLI 8800 ultra cards :D

The other problems you run into with pre-built is undersized psu's or worse. Limited upgrade paths, not to mention all the crap they pre-install.

Unless you go with Alienware (which is also dell) but then you really pay the big $. I spec'd out a 2.00 ghz core2duo with 2GB ram, 500gb hard drive, xp, 22inch ws lcd, 8600 GT 256 video card with a case for 1200.00 No way you get that pre-built anywhere

Thanks, but there is no video card in there? That is gonna add another couple hundred dollars to the price ( for a good one)

right.... that's why that came out to 1050.00 I pulled the video card out befor e I sent it. that way you could plug in the one you wanted.

This is about 30.00 more (after rebate) but you have an SLI mobo, and an SLI capable video card and an undersized/powered PSU. If you ever wanted to add a 2nd card you would have to replace the psu as well.

I tend to think that you should get a psu that is rated a bit higher than what you currently need. The one I listed is a nice one, it is also modular, you only plug in the cables you need, keeps the clutter in the box down.
