Bowyers?

Postby Tuebit » Thu Jun 21, 2007 7:01 am

Is there anyone in the guild that makes Bows?

I'm looking for one of:
- Carved Yew Bow (16.8dps lvl27)
- Ornate Yew Bow (16.8dps lvl27)
- Runed Yew Bow (16.8dps lvl27)

I can make bows! I'm not really high in woodworking, but I can certainly look at my recipes tonight to see what I can do for you.

w00t!

If there's anything I can do to help obtain the required materials, let me know! (although, I'm not very high in wood harvesting).

It looks like I'll need some yew wood at least. I'll be able to check it out when I'm home today and I'll send you a PM.

Did a bit of research.

Looks like Runed Yew Bow (dps: 14.9) is the critical success for Etched Yew Bow (16.8 ).

Recipe:
2x Treated Yew, Yew Bow Staff (3x Treated Yew, Flawed Huorn Heartwood), Etched Yew Brace (1 High Grade Steel Ingot, 4x Treated Yew, Flawed Huorn Heartwood), Optional: Scarred Huorn Heartwood

Ornate Yew Bow (dps: 16.8 ) is the critical success for Carved Yew Bow (dps: 16.8 ).

Recipe:
4x Treated Yew, Yew Bow Staff (3x Treated Yew, Flawed Huorn Heartwood), Etched Yew Brace (1 High Grade Steel Ingot, 4x Treated Yew, Flawed Huorn Heartwood), Darkheart's Black Heart

Given the higher damage on the non-critical success Carved Yew Bow, that's probably the one I'd prefer, if possible.

Do you have the recipe's for both of these? If yes, I'll see what I can get in terms of the Huorn Heartwood and Darkheart's Black Heart.

(And I can get the Treated Yew and High Grade Steel).

w00t!

Or just level to 30 (ya lazy bum) and get the hunter bow as class quest reward. I'm not in-game, but I seem to recall it's 18.5 dps.

Not to discourage kin from crafting for each other, but at least make ya aware of the options...

Thanks Cael.

I found a 14.8 (or 14.9dps) bow on the auction, which makes a nice bump over my old 12.5. There's probably little point in trying to find the rare components for the 16.8 given I'm only about 1 or 1.5 weeks away from 30.

That said, Emi, if you think you can critical success the crafting of a carved (?) yew bow, I'll send the materials on you ... or are the optional rare components required to critical?

Unfortunately I won't be able to do mastery experimentation on the carved bow because I haven't mastered that level of woodworking. It is something I'm working toward, but I have trouble getting supplies. My Explorer character is just level 14 so Ash wood is in areas I'm just entering and yew wood areas are pretty rough for me.

How much wood (and of what type) do you need to mastery?

I'll calculate it tonight and let you know. I have a bunch of purple huorn stuff too, so let me take stock of that as well.

Ack. You may be better off getting to 30 or buying a bow from somewhere else. I'm so sorry my skills aren't up to speed. I'm unfortunately not at a place yet where I'm even close to crafting at level. I've been having a really hard time getting resources for all my crafting and woodworking seems to be one of the worst. To get where I'd need to be to do mastery experimentation on Yew Wood items, I'd need the following.

(Please note that these are the most conservative estimates. I also could be dong my calculations all wrong.)

560 Ash Wood or 280 Treated Ash

1080 Yew Wood or 540 Treated Yew Wood.

I'm really so sorry. I got so excited when I thought I actually may be able to use my crating to contribute. I hope I didn't lead you too astray.

Oh and Etched Yew Bow was a vendor recipe I bought. The Carved Yew Bow is a Single-Use Monster SDrop.

Ouch! That's a lot wood.

All sorts of possible jokes about the guild giving wood to Emi ...

Like ...

I'm not sure Kix would be too happy if everyone in the guild got wood for Emi.

... or ...

Toast never gets wood ... he hasn't got the skill ...

... or ...

What little wood Toast can muster wouldn't be much help ...

... etc.

(Sorry ... had to be done).

I have some Yew I'll send along, and I'll see what I can get from the AH to help out.

If it is untreated send it to Zolariel. If it is treated, send it to Eomide.

Thanks in advance for any wood you can send my way! Your jokes were very funny!
